Province releases ~1,800 acres of land

The government of Alberta announced that it will release 1,800 acres of crown land to the Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

So far, the province has agreed to allow sufficient land that would undertake enough residential and commercial infrastructure for up to 200,000 residents.

  • 200 acres of residential land in Saline Creek is currently being developed, with sale expected for the spring of 2012
  • Alberta Infrastructure will begin marketing 859 acres of commercial and industrial use near the airport for the fall of 2012
  • In Parsons Creek, land for commercial and multi-use development is expected to be sold in late 2012, provided there is confirmation that the construction Tower Road will completed by 2013
  • Commercial and industrial land adjacent to Highway 63 may become available, pending confirmation of the Highway 686 interchange
